Max Allen Collins: Collins wrote a series of novels that follow various famous golden-age mystery writers through a murder investigation entangled in major historical events of the ’30s and ’40s. For example, we have Agatha Christie crime solving during the London blitz, Earl Derr Biggers investigating a murder in the middle of the Pearl Harbor attack, and Leslie Charteris up to his cumberbund in murder and espionage in an “explosive”  The Hindendburg Murders.
